Ways to Serve

Serving in God's name is a natural progression in the life of faith. As we grow closer to our Creator, we naturally want to reach out and serve people in need. We encourage everyone in the Christ Church community to let the Spirit guide them in this process.

You'll also find links to these areas of service listed at left.

If you want to serve right now, here are a few opportunities:

GOOD SAMARITAN MINISTRY ASSISTANTS
This ministry helps to provide emergency assistance to those hurting and in serious need. Volunteers will receive training to discern availability of resources for individuals in need financially, emotionally, and physically. After training, volunteers will meet with those in need to provide assistance with rent, utilities, medical supplies, etc. Several times are available, based on your availability:
  • At the Love in Action Shared Meals on Thursdays (5:30-7pm) at Hope Central/Fort Lauderdale; and on Sundays (1:30-3pm) at the Pompano Beach campus
  • Monday through Thursday mornings at the Blessings Food Pantry
For more information, please contact Pastor Fawn Mikel at fmikel@echristchurch.org or call 954.771.7300, x250.

COFFEE PLEASE! AT THE EARLY LEARNING CENTER
On Monday mornings beginning on October 3rd, we'll offer coffee to parents of our ELC students to help get their week underway. Volunteers are needed to prepare, serve and offer hospitality to these parents. Two shifts are available each Monday, with two persons needed at each shift: 7-8am, and 8-9am. Volunteers may participate as available, weekly or monthly. To sign up, or for more information, please click here to contact Team Leader Nancy DeMartini.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
The Christ Church Habitat for Humanity Team has openings for volunteers, age 16 and up, on Saturday, October 1. The location is 1120 NW 5th Ave, Pompano Beach 33060 (map). No experience necessary. Habitat provides the training, tools and materials--you provide the heart and hands to help build a home for a deserving family. Reminder: Volunteers must wear closed toe shoes.

URGENT NEED FOR FOOD DONATIONS AT THE BLESSINGS FOOD PANTRY

With the beginning of the school year, many families struggle financially to purchase school supplies and clothes, putting stress on their budgets for food. Please take donations to the food pantry at the Pompano Beach campus, 210 NE 3rd Street, during operating hours, 9am-12noon, Monday through Thursday, or bring them to weekend worship. LOVE IN ACTION VAN LOADERS

Each week, a team of volunteers prepares 250 hot meals for Love in Action ministry guests. Help is needed to load the trays of meals onto the van on Thursday afternoons from 4-5pm at the Fort Lauderdale campus kitchen. Serve each week, or once a month!  Please contact Pastor Fawn by email at fmikel@echristchurch.org, or call 954.771.7300, x250.

SHUT-IN VISITATION

DRIVERS TO PICK UP PANTRY SUPPLIES

The Blessings Food Pantry needs drivers to pick up donated foods from partner grocery stores and companies, and deliver them to the pantry on the Christ Church Pompano Beach campus. The schedule is very flexible, and is a perfect fit for anyone with limited time who wants to be part of this important ministry. To volunteer, or for more information, please contact Rich Storts at rstorts@echristchurch.org.
