Ways to Serve
Serving in God's name is a natural progression in the life of faith. As we grow closer to our Creator, we naturally want to reach out and serve people in need. We encourage everyone in the Christ Church community to let the Spirit guide them in this process.
For some ideas, consider serving within the church, within the community or in ministries around the world.
You'll also find links to these areas of service listed at left.
If you want to serve right now, here are a few opportunities:
HALLOWEEN TRUNK OR TREAT 2016
You're invited to join the Trunk or Treat party on Sunday, October 30th, 5:30-7pm, at Christ Church Field. Ways to help include:
GOOD SAMARITAN MINISTRY ASSISTANTS
This ministry helps to provide emergency assistance to those hurting and in serious need. Volunteers will receive training to discern availability of resources for individuals in need financially, emotionally, and physically. After training, volunteers will meet with those in need to provide assistance with rent, utilities, medical supplies, etc. Several times are available, based on your availability:
For more information, please contact Pastor Fawn Mikel at email@example.com or call 954.771.7300, x250.
COFFEE PLEASE! AT THE EARLY LEARNING CENTER
On Monday mornings, we offer coffee to parents of our ELC students to help get their week underway. Volunteers are needed to prepare, serve and offer hospitality to these parents. Two shifts are available each Monday, with two persons needed at each shift: 7-8am, and 8-9am. Volunteers may participate as available, weekly or monthly. To sign up, or for more information, please click here to contact Team Leader Nancy DeMartini.
THURSDAYS AT LOVE IN ACTION
The Love in Action Fort Lauderdale ministry serves meals to the homeless community each Thursday at Hope Central, 1100 N Andrews Ave, Fort Lauderdale (map). Volunteers are needed to arrive at 7pm on Thursdays to help with clean up after the meal is finished. Whether you can serve each week or each month, or would like more information, about this ministry, please click here to contact Team Leader Debbie Burns.
Volunteers are also needed to drive the Christ Church truck on Thursday afternoons from the Fort Lauderdale campus to Hope Central, and back. The time commitment is from 5:15pm until approximately 7:30-8pm. For more information, please contact Pastor Fawn Mikel at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 954.771.7300, x250.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT 2:42 DINNERS
Volunteers are still needed to help greet and serve at the Wednesday night 2:42 dinners. We'll start at 5:30pm with prayer, and then greet diners, serve food, and act as friendly ambassadors. There will be time for each person to eat and be out-the-door to attend activities at 6:30pm. If you or your group would like to participate, please contact Pastor Monique McBride at email@example.com.
LOVE IN ACTION VAN LOADERS
Each week, a team of volunteers prepares 250 hot meals for Love in Action ministry guests. Help is needed to load the trays of meals onto the van on Thursday afternoons from 4-5pm at the Fort Lauderdale campus kitchen. Serve each week, or once a month! Please contact Pastor Fawn by email at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 954.771.7300, x250.
Individuals unable to attend church due to illness or hospitalization long to experience Christ's presence and their church's love. If you are interested in visiting one of our shut-ins who is unable to attend weekly worship, or visiting someone in the hospital, please contact Pastor Fawn Mikel by email at email@example.com, or call 954.771.7300, x250.
