Serving Within the Church

Do you have a gift for welcoming others? Or serving in a lay spiritual role?

We have opportunities for you. If you are looking to serve our community through Christ Church, click here. If you are looking for ways to serve the world, through Christ Church, click here.

We want newcomers to feel at home at Christ Church from the moment they drive their car on campus. Here are some ways you can help welcome worshipers:

Communion servers If you regularly attend Christ Church and would like to deepen your faith by serving communion, please email lay leader Cindy Long. Holy Communion is served at every worship service at least once a month. Communion is served every week at the Traditional Communion Service held at 8am Sundays in the chapel on the Pompano Beach campus and at the 10:55am Traditional Service in the Fort Lauderdale Sanctuary.

Connect Table ambassadors If you love to enthusiastically talk with others about Christ Church, this opportunity is for you. After training, you'll greet worshipers who stop by the Connect Table to check out new opportunities and sign up. On Saturday nights, ambassadors are needed immediately after the service ends for about 15 minutes. On Sunday, the table is open from 10:30am until about 11am. Volunteers sign up at the beginning of each month for times. Email Helen Fretwell or call the church office, 954.771.7300, if you're interested.

Hospitality team Hospitality is how we let others know they are desired by God. There are four ways you can help make worshipers feel welcome:
-- Refreshments Each weekend, Christ Church offers a time to gather over refreshments to meet and share life.  We think it's important because it gives us the opportunity to welcome strangers and connect with others.  You can be a part of this ministry by volunteering to prepare, serve and clean up coffee and refreshments each weekend.
-- Greeters  Individuals, families and small groups can serve by extending a friendly greeting and warm smile to those arriving for worship on Saturdays and Sundays.
-- Information and Welcome tables Help arriving worshipers by answering questions about the church and its worship services.
-- Parking greeters Serve God with a flag in your hand and a smile on your face. Help visitors feel welcome from the moment they drive their car onto the property and help them find their way to services or special events. Individuals or small groups are welcome.
To serve in any of these ways, email Pastor Josh Beaty or call the church office, 954.771.7300

Hurricane Preparedness In preparation for hurricane season, we ask members of the Christ Church community if they would need help before or after a storm. Or, if they could offer materials or assistance to others. Please call the church office at 954.771.7300 for more information.

Tech team:  If you can operate a smartphone, you can help operate the sound and video equipment in Christ Church's three worship spaces.   We provide training and support so you can use your gifts for God. To volunteer, email Maureen Kaelbel or call 954.771.7300.

Ushers  We want worshipers to know we have a place for them at any service they wish to attend, and you could be the first person to greet them. More than handing out bulletins, this volunteer position may be called upon to help a visitor find a comfortable seat or make an introduction. If this sounds like your gift, email Pastor Josh Beaty l or call 954.771.7300.  Or talk with lead ushers at each service: Dick Womack at 6pm Saturdays; Joe Goater at 8am Sundays; Missy Dore at 9:30 and 10:55am Sundays; and Jim Pullin at 9:40am Sundays.

Visitation team Help members of the Christ Church family combat loneliness. Members of this team visit people shut-in at home, in hospitals, or residing in long-term care centers. Training is provided. For more information on this ministry, please click Shut-in Visitation.
