"You shall rise in the presence of the aged, and honor the elderly ..." Leviticus 19:32
Did you know that 60 percent of the people living in care centers do not have visitors? In Broward County, that means more than 7,500 people have no contact with anyone outside the center where they live. That can leave them feeling alone and forgotten.
You can extend the love of Christ to these residents, many who feel forgotten, by becoming a trained volunteer with Heart2Heart, a Broward County ministry.
Volunteers receive training that enables them to enter an elderly person’s life with the skills to listen, share, and love with the heart of Christ. It is hoped that residents are visited 2-4 times monthly, for approximately 30 minutes per visit. A background check is performed on all volunteers to ensure the safety of the residents as well as the needs of the care facilities. After approval, volunteers will attend an orientation at the care center where they will serving.
