Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is a Christian ministry dedicated to eradicating substandard housing by building simple, decent, affordable homes. Families who receive Habitat homes make monthly payments on a no-profit, no-interest mortgage, and each family is expected to contribute 500 hours of sweat equity working with Habitat volunteers. Habitat homes are affordable, in large part, because volunteers keep construction costs down.

On Monday, September 4th, Habitat Broward will host Labor of Love Neighborhood Revitalization Day in the area where the next seven new Habitat homes will be built. Christ Church has been invited to bring a team of 12-15 individuals to be part of this special day. The minimum age requirement for this build is 14 years old (under 16 does require an adult chaperone).  Volunteers will paint and landscape four existing homes, while several community partners will be providing services such as linkages to health services, building a Little Free Library, offering healthy cooking/eating sessions and establishing a pop-up fresh market. The property is located at 2756 NW 9th Court, Fort Lauderdale (map).
For more information, or to volunteer, please click here to contact Kathleen Watson Applegate.
Work days begin at 7:45am and end about noon. No construction experience is necessary. Habitat provides the training, tools and materials—you provide the heart and hands to help build a home for a deserving family. PLEASE NOTE: VOLUNTEERS MUST WEAR CLOSED TOE SHOES.
Please download the release form(s), and bring the completed forms with you:
