Backpack Project

When students head back to school this fall, you can help make sure they have the supplies they need.
Shop for these items and bring them to worship:
-- Backpacks without wheels
-- Boxed dry erase markers
-- Boxed colored markers
-- Loose-leaf notebook paper
-- Composition books
-- Spiral-bound notebooks
-- Packs of #2 pencils
-- Boxed colored pencils
-- Highlighters
-- Glue sticks
-- Pens
Or, you can make a donation so Backpack Project leaders can do the shopping. Or, write a check to Christ Church with backpacks in the memo line.
Thank you for reflecting the love, hope and joy of Jesus Christ to the students, teachers and families of our area schools through these supplies.
This year's goal is to put at least 700 backpacks in the hands of students in need at Christ Church partner schools -- Bennett Elementary, Cypress Elementary, Oakland Park Elementary, Pompano Beach Elementary, Pompano Beach Middle and Sunrise Middle -- as well as Hope South Florida and Christ Church Early Learning Center.
Last year, Christ Church gave nearly 1,000 backpacks to 26 elementary, middle and high schools as well as to children of Faith in Action, God's Little Lambs, and the Blessings Food Pantry as well as others. This project is co-sponsored by the Gracious Energetic Motivated Servers (GEMS) and the FREEWAY Student Ministry.
Would you like to volunteer to help put supplies in the backpacks, prepare backpacks for delivery to schools or deliver the backpacks? Backpacks will be assembled Sunday afternoon, August 13, and delivered to school Monday morning, August 14. Volunteers are especially needed to deliver backpacks to schools on Monday morning, August 14.
