WHAT ARE THE SERVICES LIKE?

We offer five weekend worship opportunities, each with the same message but different styles. We also offer Celebrate Recovery, a ministry built around the 12-step recovery process.  Formal or casual, traditional or contemporary, reflective or dynamic... chances are we have a worship service that will fit your lifestyle and personality.
  • Praise Service (Saturday 6pm & Sunday 9:40am) in the Fort Lauderdale Gym: Our Praise Services are held in a casual, comfortable environment. You can feel free to come as you are, and grab a cup of coffee on your way in. Music is led by a band with drums and electric guitars. The song lyrics are projected on a large screen so everyone can participate. Pastors wear more casual attire instead of traditional robes. This service regularly uses drama, PowerPoint, and other multi-media. Click here for Children’s Ministry during this service.
  • Traditional Communion Service (Sunday 8am) in the Pompano Beach Chapel: The Traditional Communion Service is held in our beautiful and historic Pompano Beach Chapel. We read the Scriptures from the lectionary each week, and the worship has a more "high church" feel. Holy Communion is celebrated weekly. Pastors wear robes, and children serve as crucifers and acolytes each week. Music is led from the organ and we sing traditional hymns. If terms like "lectionary" and "crucifer" are unfamiliar to you, don't worry about it! Even in our most traditional and liturgical service, lots of direction is provided so that everyone can participate. There is no Children's Ministry during this service, but please feel free to bring your children with you.
  • Celebration Service (Sunday 9:30am) in the Fort Lauderdale Sanctuary: Our Celebration Service is both traditional and upbeat. We sing a joyful medley of familiar hymns. Music is led by our Chancel Choir, but pastors do not wear robes and the service feels less formal. We celebrate Holy Communion four times per year in this service. Click here for Children's Ministry during this service.
  • Traditional Service (Sunday 11am) in the Fort Lauderdale Sanctuary: Our Traditional Service features traditional hymns and music led by our Chancel Choir.  Pastors wear traditional robes, and we pray the Lord’s Prayer and recite the Apostles’ Creed each week. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month. Click here for Children’s Ministry during this service.
  • Celebrate Recovery Service (Friday 7pm) in the Fort Lauderdale Fellowship Hall: An anonymous and confidential gathering for people in need of recovery from addiction, compulsive behaviors, or dysfunctional relationships. Celebrate Recovery is confidential and anonymous. This Christ-centered, 12-step ministry can begin your recovery journey or be added to other recovery programs. Six different men’s and women’s support groups are available ranging from chemical dependency, codependency, relationship Issues, and anger recovery. Childcare and children/youth ministry from infant to 12th grade is available.

WHAT IS THE VISION OF CHRIST CHURCH?

We believe that Jesus calls us all to live out his command to "love God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind… and to love your neighbor as yourself." At Christ Church that call is lived out through our vision. We find More to Life by:
  • Introducing Jesus—We believe that we are called to show Jesus' love through our words and actions, and to introduce people to Jesus in constructive and positive ways.
  • Growing Faith—We believe that our relationship with God deepens through study and prayer, and that loving, supportive relationships with other believers are vitally important.
  • Relieving Suffering—We believe that lost and hurting people matter, and that we have an obligation to work to relieve suffering in our church, community, and world.
  • Shaping Children—We believe that children are especially cherished by God, and that we are called to teach children about God's love.

WILL I BE SINGLED OUT AS A VISITOR?

We hope that you find us to be a friendly congregation—we want you to feel as comfortable as possible when you visit our services. While we would love a chance to meet you, you don’t have to identify yourself as a visitor. We are a big enough church for you to slip into a worship service and check us out without identifying yourself to anyone, if that is what you choose.

You’ll have the opportunity during the services to fill out a welcome card, where you can give as little or as much information about yourself as you wish—and let us know of any prayer requests that you have. You can also stop by the Information Table for more information about the church and our ministries, and receive a gift!

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO THE WORSHIP SERVICES?

Our gym services tend to be more casual, and the sanctuary and chapel services more formal. (But remember, this is Florida, where "formal" is still fairly casual and comfortable.) Children generally wear comfortable clothing. But the general rule is: Come as you are! We want to meet your real life needs, and aren’t so worried about what you wear.
