Pastor Fawn Mikel
Pastor Fawn grew up in Texas, where she heard God calling her into ministry as a third career. She attended Perkins School of Theology and went on to work in Youth Ministry for 15 years. She was serving at First United Methodist Church of Pompano Beach when it merged with Christ Church in 2006, and she became a part of the Christ Church pastoral team. Fawn works with on the Pompano Beach Campus and with Serve Ministries to assist us in being the hands and feet of Christ in the world. Fawn and Glenn have 3 sons: Matt and his family live in Wisconsin; Eric and his family live in Houston; and Brandon in Florida. Fawn and Glenn have 6 grandsons and 2 granddaughters.
What is your favorite Scripture verse or passage?
Psalm 46:10. "Be still and know that I am God." It’s hard to be still. And then to be still and just know God…wow!
What was your childhood ambition?
My first thought was to be a nun (I loved "The Flying Nun" with Sally Field). Later, I seriously considered law school to be a legal advocate for neglected and abused children.
What was your first job?
I worked as a cashier at a dry cleaner's.
What is your favorite TV show?
House Hunters – I just love seeing what a million dollars buys!
What is your favorite food?
Tex-Mex, of course… but my new love for sushi is catching up fast!
What would a perfect day be for you?
At the beach with a good book, my husband and a cold glass of homemade lemonade, watching the sun set at the end of the day (must be on the west coast!).
What are your favorite characteristics of Christ?
Jesus had incredible compassion. When I think of how he touched the leper, my throat constricts and my tears well up. There are so many "untouchables" in our world: physically, emotionally, and even spiritually. I pray Jesus will help me remove my guard and my prejudices to really touch any one he puts in my path.
